Marine fish make for a stunning aquarium – and restaurants and hotels love to make a feature of their marine fish displays.
Marine fish offer a real variety and colour to any aquarium in the home. Keeping marine fish is intensely satisfying. The marine fish in a home aquarium are simply for decorative purposes – although they offer the marine biologist in all of us the chance to understand different marine fish species a little bit more. But as well as providing a fascinating hobby, marine fish aquariums are common features in the restaurant trade – especially restaurants that build their reputation on the fish they serve.
Marine Fish Make a Splash
Many of us are used to seeing tropical fish or marine fish displays in fish restaurants. But one restaurant in Guatemala is making headlines for its stunning marine fish aquarium. The Nais-Aquarium restaurant has taken Latin America by storm. The amazing marine fish on display include around 600 species, including 38 exotic marine fish species. The sensation of dining alongside eel or zebra shark is proving a hit with diners - almost 5,000 people turned up on the first night the restaurant opened. The restaurant's marine fish theme has been dubbed a “real craze”.
Dining with the Starfish
The marine fish are the real stars of the restaurant, as diners queue up not so much for the restaurant's grub but to view the underwater attractions, including marine fish, jellyfish and guitarfish. Customers are reportedly queuing for three hours to get into the restaurant, illustrating how popular marine fish aquariums are; there is a fascination that the underwater world holds for us that is almost primal. The restaurant features 15 marine fish aquariums turning the room into a magical underwater experience.
Wide-Eyed Amazement: Marine Fish A Visual Feast
As well as native Guatemalan marine fish, tropical fish were imported from all over the world for the spectacular restaurant aquariums – including from the Caribbean, America and Australia. It took ten months to build the restaurant and its many aquariums with reefs of epoxy resin. The restaurant is naturally a big hit with families where children get to stare at the marine fish with wide-eyed amazement while tucking into their fish suppers. The restaurant was said to cost millions with a huge maintenance bill for its many marine fish aquariums estimated to be $45,000 a month.
